摘要
李小缘是中国现代图书馆学教育事业的先驱。文章在现有研究的基础上,利用海外英文档案对李小缘图书馆学教育实践与思想进行阐述。李小缘一生的图书馆学教育实践活动可以分为两个时期:第一个时期是1925年留美归国至1929年3月转任东北大学图书馆馆长;第二个时期是1952年担任南京大学图书馆副馆长以后。在这两个时期内,他积极参与各种短期培训班的授课并编写讲义,最重要的贡献是1927年创办金陵大学图书馆学系并担任系主任。李小缘图书馆学教育思想可以概括为:图书馆学教育是图书馆事业的基础;建立多层次的图书馆学教育体系;图书馆学教育坚持“洋为中用”“古为今用”。
LI Xiaoyuan was the pioneer of China’s modern library education. In this article,the author studied LI Xiaoyuan’s library education practices and thoughts,using the archives stored in the America and seldom used by Chinese scholars. Reviewing LI Xiaoyuan’s whole life,there were two periods which he made efforts to the library education. One was from 1925 to 1929,the other was from 1952 to 1959. During these two periods,LI Xiaoyuan actively participated in the short-time training schools to teach the courses on library science and wrote the syllabus. The most valuable contribution LI made to China’s modern library education was establishing the Department of Library Science of the University of Nanking in 1927 and serving as the first dean. LI Xiaoyuan’s library education thoughts could be summarized as three points. The first was that Li thought library education was the basis of librarianship. The second was that the librarianship needed multiple-level library education systems. The last was China’s library education should pay attention to the combination of China and western as well as the ancient and modern.
