田中稻城图书馆学思想——欧美访学见闻与日本图书馆功能体系构建

The Thoughts of Tanaka Inagi on Libraries: Visits to European and American Libraries and the Development of Japanese Libraries

田中稻城是日本近代中后期国立图书馆学派的代表人物,其图书馆学思想广泛借鉴其欧美访学经验。文章依据日本同志社大学今出川图书馆所藏“竹林文库”中的田中稻城手稿,对其中记录的欧美访学见闻与田中的观点进行提炼;以手稿中涉及的欧美经验为主题,将田中稻城的观点与主张进行聚类,呈现田中稻城的图书馆学思想主线,表现为以图书馆的参考图书馆与通俗图书馆功能为核心构建而成的图书馆功能体系。

As an advocate for establishing a national library,Tanaka Inagi also made important contributions to the transition of libraries affiliating with education centers to public libraries in modern Japan. The thoughts of Tanaka Inagi on libraries grew out of his academic visits to European and American countries. This study is based on Tanaka Inagi’s manuscripts in the Kumahiko Takebayashi Collection at the Imadegawa Library of Doshisha University. Through these manuscripts, his observations of European and American libraries and thoughts on Japanese libraries can be seen.His ideas,pledges and observations reveal the essence of his thought,i.e.thepurpose of public libraries is the provision of reference functions to scholars and reading functions to the general public.
