Professor Gu Baolin’s new book,Study on a Common Inheritance concerning Ci Poems of Yan Shu,Yan Jidao and Ouyang Xiu,is a comprehensive and systematic study on the reception of Ci poems. This book has three major characteristics. Firstly,it is with a historical and inclusive research view. The author’s research attitude and horizon are distinctive. Each chapter in the book reveals his cultural concerns and historical reflection. Secondly,the author cites the research of many scholars,draws on the strengths of others,and integrates them to form the unique research methods and narrative methods,which offers a new approach to researching of Ci poems. Thirdly,the author brings about patriotism to his hometown in the book. Based on the study of the local culture and Ci poems’reception,the author systematically explores and arranges the previous researches by Jiangxi Province’s poetry study school in the Qing Dynasty,which broadens the path of the study of the academic history of Ci poems in the Qing Dynasty and offers some case studies.
