A Study on the New Trend in Yan Geling’s Full Length Novel Creation in the Last 10 Years

本文着眼于严歌苓21世纪第二个十年当中关注都市生活的小说创作,从女性形象的裂变、普遍病态的都市人群、现代性空间的窘境和无处逃离的逃离几个方面分析其与严歌苓以往女兵系列、移民系列以及故国回望系列作品的异同,着重从差异处探索其近年创作手法以及思想内蕴的新趋向,并探析其由来.

This Study focuses on Yan Geling’s urban life novels from 2011 to 2019, comparing these novels with her earlier works such as the female-soldier series, immigration series and homeland nostalgia series, etc., with the analysis on aspects of the transition of female characters, the mentally-sick urban citizens, the dilemma enforced by modern space and the inescapable escapes, etc., revealing Yan’s change in her writing techniques and ideology within the novels as well as the reason behind such transformation.
