There have always been different opinions on the origin of Piaofang (box office). Piaofang first appeared in Song dynasty, when it was called “xx club”. After the birth of Kun opera, the name of “music club”appeared; In the Qing dynasty, with the rise of Peking Opera, Piaofang became a common term in the field of Chinese opera art. It was developed quickly in the late Qing dynasty and the Republic period. A comprehensive and systematic historical study of Piaofang is not only an urgent need for constructing an overall and dynamic research system, but also an indispensable contribution to the complete writing of the history of Chinese opera.
