摘要
梅贻琦是我国近现代高等教育史上的著名教育家,其思想在任职清华大学、西南联大校长期间逐渐成形。其实,“从游”主张的起源甚早,梅贻琦赋予其新的涵义并付诸治校实践中,在新的时代条件下发展了古代的游学思想并进而提出其影响深远的“从游说”。梅贻琦把学校环境比喻为水,师生喻为大鱼和小鱼,师生关系似引导和跟随的关系。在当今高等教育的理论与实践中,“从游说”仍有着深刻的教育意蕴,大学教育仍需继承和发展“从游”思想,凸显本真教育之旨趣、追寻健全人格的发展、力主充满师生对话的大学教育方式以及倡导大学学习之自由。挖掘“从游说”的当代教育意蕴,希望能为当前高等教育发展方向寻绎一种可供参考的新思路。
Mei Yiqi ( 1889 -1962), former president of Tsignhua University ( 1938 -1946), as well as “Xinan Lianda”or Southwest Associated University ( 1941 - 1946), is a prestigious educator in early modern China. Based on ancient Chinese thoughts about “teacher as mentor”and his experience of educational leadership, Mr. Mei developed his own theory of “mentoring teaching”, which emphasizes the university teacher’s role as an academic counselor and role model. Encouraging autonomous learning and interactive teaching, this kind of mentoring teaching is conducive to the holistic development of students and serves the purpose of a true education. Ms. Mei’s theory therefore still has substantial implications for our higher education today.
