“反而”是用来强调事态朝与期待或常规相反的方向发展。简单地说,就是在更应该出现的时候,没有出现某结果。因此,“反而”在句子层面上表现为可以帮助构成三大类语义关系:反转关系、反递关系和对立(并列)关系。

Fan’er emphasizes that things are going in the opposite direction from what is expected or expected.Simply put,there was no outcome when it should have been.Therefore,"instead" can help form three kinds of semantic relations at the sentence level: inversion relation,anti-recursion relation and opposition (juxtaposition) relation.
