从《东方杂志》相关文章可见,近代日本在工业化过程中最重要的秉赋缺陷是在国际竞争中技术相对落后。但由于政府实行鼓励人口生育等不当政策,导致国内人口增长很快。而日本政客常常又以所谓的国内人口问题作为对外扩张的借口。日本推行不断对外扩张的政策,特别是动辄发动战争,这种国家发展战略的根本缺陷加剧了国内人口问题等矛盾,恶化了国内经济与社会发展的态势。

From the articles in The Eastern Miscellany , we can know the most important endowed defect of modern Japan was backward technology which mainly existed in international during the course of industrialization competition. On account of improper policies including childbirth encouragement, the modern Japanese population size grew too fast. In the meantime, modern Japanese politicians excused so-called internal population problem for invasion and extension frequently. The policy of invasion and expansion of modern Japanese government brought about the fundamental flaw of national strategies which intensified the contradictions between internal population size and resources, deteriorated modern Japanese internal economy and social development.
