Morrison’s Chinese-English Dictionary and Its Contribution

马礼逊(Robert Morrison 1782-1834)是晚清时期第一批来华的英国新教传教士,马氏编纂的《华英字典》是历史上第一部帮助西方人学习汉语的汉英字典,为后来外向型二语习得字典编纂提供了范式。他是19世纪"东学西渐"的代表,促使中西文化交流的层次更深、影响更远。基于其巨著《华英字典》的编纂,阐述其对汉语语言学习规律的思考,挖掘其有价值的内容,以期对当前对外汉语教学有所贡献。

Robert Morrison(1782~1834),the first British Protestant missionary to China,compiled the first Chinese-English Dictionary for foreigners to learn Chinese,providing a paradigm for later extroverted dictionary compilation.He promoted the deeper and more influential levels of cultural exchanges between China and the West.Based on the compilation of "Chinese-English Dictionary",this paper expounds its thinking on the law of Chinese language learning and explores its valuable content,in order to contribute to the current teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.
