[Objective]To study the effect of preventive application of Wendan decoction on delirium risk in elderly ICU patients.[Methods]Seventy-eight ICU inpatients admitted to our hospital from January 2017 to January 2019 were enrolled in the study. They were randomly divided into observation group and control group,39 cases each.Patients in the control group were given routine treatment to prevent delirium, that is,active treatment of primary diseases, psychological nursing, etc. In the observation group,Wendan decoction was added to prevent delirium in ICU patients at the same time of routine treatment. The incidence of delirium and length of stay in ICU were compared between the two groups, and the incidence of adverse reactions was also counted in the observation group.[Results]The incidence of delirium in the observation group was 7.69%significantly lower than that in the control group(25.64%),and the hospitalization time of ICU in the observation group was significantly shorter than that in the control group(P<0.05).The total incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 28.21%,but all of them were mild.Without special treatment, the symptoms disappeared after continued treatment.[Conclusion]Wendan decoction can reduce the risk of delirium in elderly ICU patients, shorten the length of ICU hospitalization, and is safe to use, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
