汉语流行语“硬核”最初和音乐、游戏密切相关,如“硬核说唱”和“硬核游戏”等。后来该词逐渐本土化,运用十分广泛,并产生了新的意义。通过考察该词在具体语境中的搭配情况,发现“硬核”在句中能充当多种句法成分,该词的语义内涵与“硬”、“核”的语素义密切相关,隐含有“实在”“刚硬”“有难度”“厉害”“核心”等多种意义。因此,在汉翻英中,不能把所有的“硬核”都译为“hardcore”。
