IHS Markit finds that there are 25 super basins and 24 tier two basins, which have the potential to increase production and reserves significantly and would form “Super Basin Model” by means of compareing the global onshore and offshore basins and the “Super Basin Model” is reshaping the future oil and gas exploration and development direction, providing a new choice for the oil and gas industry. Rejuvenating mature basins depends not only on the underground resources, changing of exploration ideas, market changes and technological innovation, but also on various factors such as government attitude, open access, legal provisions, market competition and social inclusion. The exploration and development of the future oil company needs to consider not only the frontier exploration and emerging fields, but also the existing mature basins and resources with low development risks to achieve replacement of reserves orderly and increase production effectively.
