左秉隆作为晚清驻新加坡第一任领事,任期内创作的诗歌全部收录于其唯一诗集《勤勉堂诗钞》。通过搜集、整理当时当地的多家华文报纸以及一些零散的相关研究成果,并对这些史料深入分析,从类别方面探讨《勤勉堂诗钞》中“咏物、自警、家居”题材的新加坡之作,揭示其对马华旧文学的产生起推广作用的原因和表现。

As the first consul of the late Qing Dynasty in Singapore, Zuobinglong's poems created during his term of office were all included in his only poetry collection,"Qin Mian Tang Poems." By collecting,collating and analyzing a number of local Chinese newspapers and some scattered relevant research results at that time,, we discussed Singapore's work on the theme of "Qi Mian Tang poetry" by category. It reveals the reasons and manifestations of Mahuajiu's literary production.
