Justifying Afghanistan in Light of Confession——The Potential Writing Intention of The Kite Runner

The Kite Runner tells the story of Amir, the protagonist, in his early years betraying and framing Hassan, the servant, then confessing and atoning for his crime more than twenty years later. Much information about Afghanistan in the narration of the story implicitly shows the intention of justifying this country: the comparison of the present and the past shows the misery in Afghanistan is the result of Russian invasion;common afghans are not terrorists but victims of terrorism;the atonement of Amir suggests afghans’ courage and sincerity of correcting their faults. This intention is not mentioned publicly, but is self-evident, which displays Hosseini’s superb writing technique.
