A Historical Investigation of the Social Discussions on the Establishment of Hainan Province from 1945 to 1948

抗战胜利后,海南国防重要性日益凸显,在社会舆论的关注下,“海南建省”提议再度被推向历史前台。以报刊杂志为代表的诸多主流社会媒体对这一提议展开广泛讨论。人们围绕国防安全、政治建设、经济发展等方面论证“海南建省”必要性、可行性。虽然南京国民政府对建省提议有所因应,但却未将其提高到国防战略高度,致使“海南建省”无果而终。然而,围绕建省所展开的讨论,无疑是对海南国防、政治、经济地位的有益探索,并有力助推“海南建省”的历史进程。

After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War,the importance of hainan in national defense became increasingly prominent.Under the attention of public opinion,the proposal of“Establishment of Hainan Province”was pushed to the front stage of.history again.Many mainstream social media,represented by newspapers and magazines,have discussed this proposal extensively.People around national defense and security,political construction,economic development and other aspects to demonstrate the necessity and feasibility of“Establishment of Hainan Province”.Although the Nanjing National Government has responded to the proposal of“Establishment of Hainan Province”,it has not raised it to the height of national defense strategy,resulting in the failure of“Establishment of Hainan Province”.However,the discussion around the“Establishment of Hainan Province”is undoubtedly a useful exploration of Hainan’s national defense,political and economic status and a powerful impetus to the historical process of“Establishment of Hainan Province”.
