On Sima Qian’s Birth Year in 145 BC from the Connection between Sima Qian and the Regional Culture of Three Jin

司马迁生于韩城,韩城地处晋陕豫交界处,是中华民族的直根之地,青少年时期一直居住于此,深受三晋文化的熏陶。他如果出生于公元前135年,10岁随父亲入长安,那么对直根历史的稔熟和浓重的乡情就很难形成了。从三晋地域文化与司马迁的关联看,他应该是生于公元前145年。

Sima Qian was born in Hancheng city,which is located at the junction of Shanxi,Shaanxi and Henan provinces,the root of the Chinese nation,where he spent his early years,and deeply influenced by the culture of Three Jin with the most part in Shanxi province today.If he was born in 135 BC and moved to Chang’an with his father at the age of 10,it would be very difficult to form the idea of root culture with strong feeling for hometown.Therefore,from the connection between the regional culture of Three Jin and Sima Qian,it can be inferred that he should be born in 145 BC.
