摘要
《玻璃动物园》是威廉姆斯基于与姐姐以及母亲的生活体验创作出的一部杰出戏剧作品,并奠定了他在戏剧界的声望.剧本讲述了在20世纪30年代,一个来自美国南方的中产阶级母女的悲惨遭遇.本文试图运用兰西·雀朵洛的理论解读剧中纠葛而压抑的母女关系,从而理出该剧中母女关系的悲剧原因所在,并给出修复母女关系的建议,为本剧的研究提供一个新的角度.
The Glass Menagerie is considered as an autobiographical play,featuring characters based on Williams’ histrionic mother and his mentally fragile sister.His first big hit came with the debut of this masterpiece.This drama tells the searing story of a mother-daughter relationship complicated by the daughter’s disability in 1930 s.This paper seeks to identify the key causes of the conflict between mother(Amanda)and daughter(Laura)and to find out how to revise their relationships based on Nancy Chodorow’s Theory elaborated in her book The Reproduction of Mothering.Thus,this paper provides a new perspective to analyzing this drama.
