A Japanese Anti-war Writer Hidden in Tianjin Concession:Yonglai Sanwu

日本作家永濑三吾于上世纪20年代末在天津租借从事新闻报道工作,他早年大量介绍文化体育知识及天津风土人情,为文化传播作出了较大贡献。抗日战争爆发后,始终坚持和平主义的反战立场,被日本军国主义当局视为卖国奴而遭到迫害,最终于1946年返回日本。1954年他结合自身在天津租界的经历创作了小说《卖国奴》,揭露了日本军国主义的侵华罪行,同时还生动地刻画了天津租界时代多国文化相互交融的情景。

Japanese writer Yonglai Sanwu was engaged in news reporting in Tianjin Concession since the late 1920s. He introduced a vast amount of knowledge on culture and sports, as well as Tianjin local customs to Japan in the early years, and made great contributions to cultural communication. After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, he always adhered to the pacifist and anti-war stance, but was persecuted by the Japanese militaristic government as a traitor to his country, and eventually returned to Japan in 1946. In 1954, he created the novel Traitor with his own experience in Tianjin Concession, exposing the monstrous crimes committed by Japanese militaristic invaders, and vividly portraying the communication and integration of multinational cultures in Tianjin Concession at that time.
