70 Years’ Study of Central Asia in China: Accomplishments and Problems

中亚五国是一个新的国际政治区域概念,由于与中国的新疆邻近,对这个地区的研究和关注也比较早,但真正系统的、成规模的学术研究,还是最近这30年。国内一些重要的研究院所和高等学校都成立了专门研究中亚问题的机构,有相对稳定的研究人员队伍,对中亚地区及每个国家的研究都日益深入,成果也基本涵盖了各个领域。进入新世纪以后,在中国和中亚国家的睦邻友好关系迅速发展的背景下,对中亚的研究不断走向深入,各个方面的研究都取得了可喜的成果。关于中亚国家政治、安全和外交方面的综合著述越来越多,国别研究也受到重视,成果呈现出多样化的特征。尽管也面临一些困难和问题,但中亚问题研究受到的关注和扶持越来越多,正在进入一个“繁荣”的新阶段。

Central Asia,consisting of five countries,is a new international geopolitical concept.As Central Asia is adjacent to Xinjiang,China has an earlier start in the research into the area,but the last thirty years has witnessed a large-scale systematic academic study.At present,many important research institutes and universities have organizations specialized in central Asian issues and relatively stable research teams.Their study concerns almost every field of the area and each of the five countries,with productive outcomes.In the new century,with the swift development of the good-neighbor relationship between China and Central Asian countries,the study on Central Asia has been furthered and diverse results have appeared.For example,more and more comprehensive books concerning Central Asian politics,security and foreign affairs have been published,and national research has drawn more attention.Despite some difficulties and problems,the study of Central Asia is entering a flourishing period,attracting more concern and support.
