Breeding of Xiangla 712, a New High-yield and Disease-resistant PepperCultivar

湘辣712是以NO4583-5-2-4A(CMS)为母本、自交系R0767-1-1-1-1为父本育成的杂交一代中熟大果朝天椒品种;果实指形单生朝天,果长8.6cm、果宽1.3cm、果肉厚0.16cm,青熟果深绿色,红熟果鲜红光亮,一致性好,单果质量5.8g左右,鲜干比约4.8;辛辣味浓,丰产性好,易干制、油分高、干物质含量高,适合作干椒或鲜椒酱制;综合抗性和适应性强,耐寒性、耐旱性、耐湿热性强,尤其表现为耐涝性强,高抗疫病、炭疽病和病毒病,适合南方雨水多的区域栽培。

Xiangla 712 is a medium-ripening pepper F1 hybrid with large fruit, which bred by taking NO4583-5-2-4A (CMS) as female parent and inbred line R0767-1-1-1-1 as male parent. The fruit is finger-shaped, single-born and upward, 8.6 cm in length, 1.3 cm in width, 0.16 cm in thick pulp. Its green fruit is dark green and ripe fruit is bright red with good consistency. The single fruit weight is 5.8 g, with a fresh-dry ratio of about 4.8. It is suitable for dry pepper or fresh pepper sauce because of its high content of oil and dry matter. It has strong comprehensive resistance and adaptability, cold resistance, drought resistance and moisture and heat resistance, especially for waterlogging resistance, high resistance to epidemics, anthrax and viral diseases. It is suitable for high yield cultivation in open fields in most parts of China.
