An Enquiry Concerning the Layout of Four-sentence Teaching in Yangming

通过对阳明四句教所涉及争议和问题的剖析,或可澄清四句教的要旨,进而彰显阳明心学与其"简易"并行不悖的精与深,精在布局严整,深在别有洞天。本文将依循两个方面的问题展开:其一,四句教与《大学》八条目的关系;其二,四句教的第一句与其余三句的关系。

Through the analysis of the disputes and problems involved in the Four-sentence Teaching of Yangming, we could have the opportunity to clarify the gist of the Four-sentence Teaching,and further highlight Yangming Xin Xue’s subtlety and depth,which are not inconsistent with its"simplicity".This paper will follow two levels of questions:first,the relationship between the Foursentence Teaching and the Eight Items in Da Xue;second, the relationship between the first sentence of the Four-sentence Teaching and the other three.
