强调科学研究的服务社会(唯用)功能,不意味着科学研究的知识生产(唯真)属性要被置于从属地位。事实上,“唯用”与“唯真”在本质上是一致的。要走出当前学术研究中因功利主义导致的碎片化和实用主义导致的创新障碍,科学研究过程中就要坚持“问题导向”和“知识创新”两条腿走路,其中厘清“问题导向的研究”内涵尤为重要:“问题”,既包括实践问题,也包括理论问题;“研究”,既要重视解决实践问题的应用研究,也要重视科学知识创新的基础研究。

Part V of the dialogue focuses on theoretical and practical implications in tourism research. The practicality, or practical use of research to support the industry and to serve the state, is first discussed. In addition, the dialogue also stresses the importance of theoretical implications or theoretical breakthroughs in contemporary tourism studies. Issues that enable or otherwise prohibit such breakthroughs or innovations in tourism knowledge production are then reflected. These include factors such as particularity of China(tourism) problems, internationalization in education and research, as well as perspectives of indigenous knowledge. The discussion shed lights on the complexity of theory-practice relationships in tourism research.
