卫青与霍去病出身低微,却因恰逢汉武帝大有作为之世而飞黄腾达。二人非有统帅之才,却凭得整个汉帝国之力成己之丰功伟业。其为人或谨慎唯喏或蛮憨惨酷,其实不过武帝大局中之小卒而已。太史公善用春秋笔法,其微言大义细绎而可知。

Wei Qing and Huo Qubing came from humble backgrounds,but they climbed up the social ladder quickly when Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty was fulfilling his ambitions. They didn’t have a gift for commanding,but they made their great achievements depending on the strength of the entire empire. Wei Qing was cautious and submissive while Huo Qubing was tough and cruel,and they were nothing but pawns in Emperor Wu’s blue print. Shima Qian depicted them by using sublime words with deep meaning.
