The life experience of Lv Shuxiang and Zhou Zhenfu was starkly different, with one sitting on academic profession and another devoted to publishing. However, in the final analysis, both of them regarded academic pursuit as the lofty goal of their life, and hoped to expound their ideas in writing for eternality. But they made quite different career choices. Zhou Zhenfu took editing as his lifework and engaged in academic research in his spare time. He was successful in both editing and writing. Lv Shuxiang worked at a scientific research institute for a long time, but he was always interested in editing. While writing books, he paid attention to publishing from time to time and proposed lots of insightful ideas which were thought-provoking for editors. Comparing and studying their editing theories and practice will enlighten editors and publishers and benefit the current editing and publishing work.
