上海亚东图书馆是我国现代出版史上的重要出版机构,出版了众多影响深远的图书。本文梳理了亚东图书馆四十年的发展历程,对其较有代表性和影响的出版物如新式标点古典小说、《尝试集》等进行考述,进而勾勒其家族经营特色与出版风格,指出出版人的文化理想对出版机构运营的重要作用。

The Shanghai-based Oriental Book Company was an important publishing house in the modern publishing history of China. It published a large quantity of books with far-reaching influence. The paper sorts out the 40 years' development of The Oriental Book Company, and discusses some of its representative and influential publications, e.g. classical novels inserted with a new type of punctuation, and the Collection of Modern Language Poems for Trial . On this basis, the paper sums up the features of its operation as a family-run company and its publishing style, and points out that the cultural ideal of publishers is key to the operation of a publishing house.
