Application of acupuncture by the Tongfu therapy in treating facial disease

通腑法最早见于张机《伤寒杂病论》,是使用通下的方法使内热积滞从大便而解。李瑞教授临床运用通腑法,针刺治疗痤疮、色斑、面色晦暗等面部疾病经验丰富,疗效卓著,符合中医整体观念思想,内调脏腑,使气血通达于外,驱邪外出,取通腑泄浊、通腑生清、通腑舒经之意,取穴方面以肘膝以下特定穴及腹部穴位为主,结合局部选穴。文章选取李瑞教授临床治疗痤疮、色斑经典医案,以飨同道。

The Tongfu therapy (通腑法) was first seen in Zhang Ji's Shanghan Zabing Lun (《伤寒杂病论》), and is a method which was applied to make Neire (内热) out from the stool. The Tongfu therapy was applied by Professor Li Rui in treating hemorrhoids, pigmentation, dull complexion and other facial diseases by acupuncture, with good efficacy. And some cases were explored in the paper.
