A Review of the Research on the Genre Classification of Wenxuan

《文选》自成书以来,就受到广泛的关注与重视。因李善、五臣等人先后为其作注,产生了李善注、五臣注、六臣注、六家注各种版本。因为现存《文选》版本过于繁多复杂,更为可惜的是萧统原编三十卷本《文选》又已亡佚,所以学界对于《文选》究竟包括多少种体裁的说法莫衷一是,产生了"三十七体说""三十八体说""三十九体说"等主流观点,同时也有"三十四体说""四十体说"等一家之言。在《文选》分体研究的过程中,必须要重视版本依据、文体流变规律、学理依据等问题。

Wenxuan has attracted widespread attention since its creation. Li Shan, Wu Chen(Five Ministers) and some others annotated it successively, resulting in many annotations for this book, including the various editions of Li Shan’s Annotation, Wu Chen’s Annotation, Liu Chen’s Annotation, and Liu Jia’s Annotation. Due to the number and the complexity of the existing editions of Wenxuan, besides the long loss of the original edition by Xiao Tong, there is no unanimity in the academic circle as to how many genres are involved in this book. There are three major views holding that there are 37, 38 and 39 genres respectively, and some minor voices saying that there are 34 or 40. The genre study of Wenxuan should take the textual evidence of different editions, laws of stylistic changes and the substantiality of theoretical basis in full consideration.
