Types and distribution of the sky-mending fairy tales

补天神话是中国神话中具有相当特色的一类神话。本文以收集到的 10 2篇中国补天神话为基础 ,主要运用历史地理的方法 ,将该神话划分为炼石补天、冰雪补天、采石补天、缝补型、钉补型等五个亚型 ,并结合它们各自的基本形态、地理分布、文化背景 ,初步探讨了补天神话的原型、发源地。

The sky-mending fairy tales are an important part of the Chinese mythology The present author first makes a collection of 102 sky-mending fairy tales, which, according to the ways of mending the sky, fall into five categories: stone-smelting, ice-snow, stone-quarrying, mending and patching, and then gives an analysis to the patterns, the geographical distribution and the cultural background for each of the five categories Finally, the possible prototypes, original places and cultural connotations of the sky-mending fairy tales are discussed
