Two-electrode and three-electrode(multi-electrode or multi-segment)di- stributed feedback laser is a key device for ultralong distance transmission and very large capacity transmission optical fiber communication systems.This paper discusses important of the three-electrode distributed feedback(DFB) laser,such as tuning theory,frequency modulatoin response,and pure frequency modulation and chirping suppressed amplitude modulation.
