The synthesis of biodegradable material-polycaprolactone was studied. The influences of reactive time, reactive temperature and the initiator(ethylene glycol) to the reaction of ring-opening polymerization of caprolactone were discussed. The best reactive conditions(140 ℃, 7 h) were obtained. The molecular weight of polycaprolactone is controlled by the concentration of ethylene glycol as the formula is M= 150.46(V ρ/m) -0.5315. Moreover, the molecular structure of polycaprolactone was characterized by infrared spectroscopy, H-nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.
