In the Ming Dynasty, Ding Zi - shen made a proposal, ' Do not betray Islam and do not be tied down by Islam. ' It reflects the Hui intellectuals open state of mind in studying Confucius cultures. This thesis analyzes the background of the times when this proposal was made, the role played, the influence made by the proposal in the process of the Hui nationalities'survival and development as well as its academic value in the dialogue between civilizations.
