A Survey of the Statistical Tools Used in Ten Major Linguistic Journals

统计学在语言学研究中逐步得到了重视 ,但对 1995至 2 0 0 0年国内出版的十种外语类核心期刊中统计手段的使用情况的调查发现 ,中国的语言学与应用语言学研究者对统计手段不十分熟悉 ,具体应用中存在很多不足 。

The use of statistical tools has received increasing attention in the studies of linguistics and applied linguistics. But a survey of the use of statistical tools in the ten major linguistic journals in China reveals that the Chinese researchers in these fields do not seem to be competent enough with statistical tools and that cases of over-use, under-use and misuse can often be observed. This calls for our concern.
