The United States selects its President through the electoral college system, which has always been subject to constant criticism. Now it even faces the danger of being replaced by direct popular vote. A close examination of the system discovers that it works rationally. Furthermore, the system is an important political tool to maintain the bi-partisan system. Therefore, the electoral college system should not and could not be abolished in the short run.
