In the long historical development of English vocabulary, there have appeared a large number of synonyms and synomorphemes. Although they are more or less the same in their conceptual meanings, their stylistic differences cannot be ignored. They can be largely divided into three styles: popular, formal and learned. A keen acquaintance with these differences can definitely help us accurately use English words and identify them.
