英译汉的“的”字问题

This paper is an attempt to study the excessive use of the Chinese character 'de' in English-Chinese translation. The author maintains that this problem is caused by 'yingyi' (literally means stiff translation), which may be intentional or unintentional. The intentional is a kind of special translation method adopted by a translator for a special purpose, while the unintentional results from a translator's ignorance of differences in word, syntax and thinking between English and Chinese. Both methods tend to produce unnecessary 'des'.
