摘要
This article, based on the archives of the village town autonomy in Jiaxing of Zhejiang province, renders a study of the operation of the village town administration and the changes between the government and the society during the period of the Republican China. In 1946, the national power had reached the villages and towns effectively. The village town administration had already had its autonomy privilege, which was given by the village town people’s congress. Though the village town people’s congress made the populace had the chance to take part in the local politics, this local practice of autonomy couldn’t lead to a new political revolution.
