On the Spirit of Chuanshan

船山精神可以从三个方面来理解 :政治上 ,以天下为己任 ,坚持反清复明、复兴华夏的民族爱国主义精神 ;学风上 ,反对虚妄之说 ,主张正本清源 ,强调经世致用的求实精神 ;学术上 ,有兼容百家、善于扬弃、别开生面的创新精神。

The spirit of Chuanshan can be understood from three respects: first, in politics, he concerned the fate of the country as his own responsibility, and insisted on the spirit of patriotism of fighting against Qing Dynasty and restoring Ming Dynasty. Secondly, in the academic atmosphere, he fought against unfounded remarks and focused on realistic spirit. And thirdly, in the sphere of learning, he took in everything and good at developing what is useful or healthy and discard what is not. He possessed fresh and original spirit of blazing new trails.
