Profit functions of a class of unilateral stochastic R&D model

考虑一个双寡头模型 ,其中一个企业从事随机成本降低型 R& D.创新企业知道 R& D结局 .根据两个企业是否知道非创新企业的成本实现 ,在 3种情况下给出了它们的利润函数 .这 3种情况分别是 :(1)两个企业都知道 (非创新企业的成本 ) ;(2 )两个企业都不知道 ;(3)只有非创新企业知道 .而在每种情况下 ,又分对称信息 (非创新企业知道 R& D结局 )和不对称信息 (非创新企业不知道 R& D结局 )两种情况 .最后指出 ,已有的两篇文献在针对两种情况下的利润函数对问题进行比较研究时 ,存在着不一致现象 .

This paper considers a duopoly model, where one firm conducts stochastic cost reducing research & development(R&D). The innovating firm knows R&D outcome. According to whether the two firms know the cost realization of the non innovating firm, the paper gives their profit functions under three cases, which are, respectively, (1) both firms know it, (2) neither firm knows it, and (3) only the non innovating firm knows it. Under each case, symmetric information and asymmetric information are analyzed successively. The non innovating firm knows R&D outcome for symmetric information and does not know it for asymmetric information. Finally, it is pointed out that inconsistency exists in two former papers that study problems based on the profit functions under two cases.
