There are many opinions about the wandering of Guo Mo - ruo' s first thought on art and literature studies between utilitarianism and aestheticism. The article reveals the reasons for his inner anguish from different aspects, such as the influence of literature creation (concept of art and literature studies) ,the inner reason - disposition and temperament, the outer reason- period;culture clash and so on.
