The phenomenon of sound dropping in Heilongjiang dialect manifests itself mainly in the dropping of phonemes and the dropping of syllables.This paper focuses on these two different manifestations of sound dropping and explains the causes that lead to the phenomenon of sound dropping.It points out that neutral tone of syllables is the most common cause that leads to sound dropping and that speech tempo also plays a decisive role in sound dropping and its forms.This paper also expounds on the relationship between sound dropping and sound-blending and the influence of sound dropping on written language.
