The thesis introduces the reinventing government theory and the practice in the West and analyzes the feasibility of drawing lessons from the theory to reform Chinese government. In theory, reinventing government theory is consistent with the theory of Marxism that the government develops in pace with the development of social productive force. In practice, reinventing government theory emphasizes reforming government according to the market economy, it is significant to draw lessons from the Western theory for Chinese government to improve administration and efficiency in the new circumstances that China has entered the WTO and the market economy has developed rapidly. It discusses the enlightenment from the reinventing government theory, which is to strengthen the consciousnesses of service and market orientedness.
