摘要
本文基于第一手翻译实例,从语言、文化、政治等层面,对比分析作为国家翻译实践的《习近平谈治国理政》、《毛泽东选集》英译的不同特点。发现作为'国家翻译实践'的中国重要政治文献翻译的英译策略已经发生了变化,即从《毛选》英译时的源语取向渐进式地变为现在的忠实于原文精神的译语取向,其原因也值得探讨。本文认为这一翻译策略变化具有里程碑意义,为当代时政翻译确立了新的方向。
According to the definition and classification of Chinese National Translation Program(NTP),the translation of Chinese top leaders’speeches and important documents issued by national governmental organs or the Chinese Communist Party is both Inward-National Translation Program and Outward-National Translation Program.This paper,based on NTP theory and specific translation examples,attempts a comparative study of the translation of Xi Jinping:The Governance of China with the translation of Selected Works of Mao Tse-tung.It analyzes from linguistic,cultural and political perspectives the major translation characteristics of the English version of Xi Jinping:The Governance of China,arguing that the translation strategy for major Chinese political documents has shifted from'ST-oriented'to'TT-oriented'.It also discusses the causes behind this shift.
