Role of Research on Mechanical Behaviour in the Development of New Materials --A Brief Assessment of ICM6

The article gave an outline of the sixth International Conference on Mechanical Behaviour of Materials (ICM6). Attention has been focused on the recent international achievements in the research on mehanical behaviour of novel materials, and its role in the new materials development and applications. Finally some proposals for strengthening China's efforts in this field were made.
