Study Overt Translation of Culture-loaded Words in Lu Xun’s Novels Translated by Julia Lovell

在当下中国文化“走出去”和讲好中国故事的时代语境中,中华文化汉译外扛起了新时代大旗。翻译是中国文化“走出去”过程中至关重要的媒介和桥梁。因此,研究汉学家蓝诗玲在翻译极具“中国风和中国味”的鲁迅小说中所采用的翻译策略具有一定的理论和现实意义。蓝诗玲译鲁迅小说中文化负载词显性翻译,主要从文本因素、语言因素、语用因素和译者因素角度分析显性翻译在蓝诗玲译鲁迅小说中文化负载词中的体现、效果以及对中华文化英译的启示。

Against the backdrop of spreading Chinese culture and telling Chinese stories,translation of Chinese culture into foreign languages has shouldered the responsibility of the new era,which is a vital medium and bridge in the process of Chinese culture“going globally”.Therefore,at present,it is of theoretical and practical significance to study the translation strategies adopted by Julia Lovell,a sinologist,when translating Lu Xun’s novels with strong“Chinese style and Chinese flavor”.The purpose of this paper is to analyze the overt translation of culture-loaded words in Lu Xun’s novels translated by Julia Lovell from the perspectives of text factors,linguistic factors,pragmatic factors and translator factors,as well as its enlightenment to the translation of Chinese culture.
