严复与寰球中国学生会

Yan Fu and the World’s Chinese Students’ Federation

寰球中国学生会是20世纪初期建立的旨在服务于中国留学生群体的组织。严复在创办之初应邀加入,积极活跃于会内举行的办报、演说及会外留学生考核活动,使其教育、爱国及合群思想产生变化,严复也从此时期开始多了一重“社会活动家”身份,其在寰球会的活动也无疑促进了该会乃至近代留学生教育事业的起步与发展。

The World's Chinese Students'Federation is an organization established at the early 20th century whose purpose is to serve overseas Chinese students.Yan Fu was invited to join the federation when it was established and actively participated in running newspaper,delivering speeches and examining overseas students which made a profound effect on his thought on education,patriotism and gregariousness.At the same time,he became a social activist and undoubtedly had promoted the founding and the development of the federation and the education of overseas students through all his activities.
