摘要
杨永清于20世纪20年代在“收回教育权运动”的潮流中出任东吴大学校长,掌校25年之久。他根据教会大学的实际,适时提出了“中西融贯”的办学思想并予以实践,他主张培养“中西融贯”之“完人”以“服务”于中国社会,倡导校内外的广泛“合作”,妥善处理学校与外国教会及中国政府的三方关系。杨永清在东吴大学的办学成就,体现了“中西融贯”思想的时代意义和历史价值。
In the 1920s,Yang Yong-Ching became the president of Soochow University in the trend of“recovering the right to education”,and had been in charge for 25 years.Making full account of the reality of the church university,he put forward the idea of“Chinese and Western integration”in a timely manner and actively put it into practice.He advocated the cultivation of the“full-grown man”deeply versed in Chinese and Western cultures,as talents to“serve”Chinese society.He also advocated extensive“cooperation”inside and outside the school as a way to properly handle the tripartite relationship among the school,the foreign church,and the Chinese government.Yang Yong-Ching’s achievements in the operating of Soochow University reflect the epochal significance and historical value of the idea of integrating Chinese and Western cultures.
