In 1950,Xin Daming wrote a narrative ballad The liberation of Prostitutes based on the social reformation after liberation of Shijiazhuang.This popular literary work describes the vicissitude life of prostitutes in North China in the old and new era,and participates in the social revolutionary movement in the cities of New China.The problem of prostitutes is a social problem in the process of urban modernity,which has prominent ideological significance in the period of the New Democratic Revolution.Narrative strategies and socio-economic themes in the ballad are important aspects of the social significance in literary works,combined with the social and cultural context of China at that time.
