Objective To make a waterproof breathable protective sleeve for PICC patients with bath and evaluate its application effect. Methods 242 patients with PICC in the department of oncology,a hospital of henan province from From January 2018 to December 2018 were selected as the study subjects.Among them,120 patients with preclinical treatment with waterproof and breathable sleeve protection device were selected as the control group without any protective measures. After the application of waterproof and breathable protective sleeve in clinical practice,122 patients in the experimental group were enrolled. The incidence rates of tension blister, catheter detachment, puncture point infection, allergic dermatitis and catheter-related bloodstream infection in the two groups were compared.ResultsIn The experimental group, catheter prolapse 0,puncture site infection 1.64%,allergic dermatitis 1.64%,catheter-related bloodstream infection 0,in the control group, catheter prolapse 1.67%,puncture site infection 10%,allergic dermatitis 12.50%,catheter-related bloodstream infection 0.84%.The difference was statistically significant(χ2=2.5,P=0.005,P<0.05).The satisfaction rate of the two groups of patients using the waterproof and breathable protective sleeve device designed in this study was 98.36%in the experimental group and 85.83%in the control group. The difference was statistically significant(severityχ2=0.000,P=0.001,P<0.05).Conclusion The waterproof breathable cuff protection device for PICC patients can reduce the incidence of complications in PICC patients, avoid wasting medical resources, and improve the satisfaction of patients. Therefore,it is worthy of clinical application.
