Changes of Gentry in Local Autonomy During the New Deal Period in the Late Qing Dynasty

在清末新政时期的地方自治中,士绅阶层是重要的力量。他们的积极加入,有力地推动了地方自治运动的发展。由于清末社会形势发生急剧变化,士绅阶层为了谋求新的社会利益,使得其在地方自治运动中的权力和角色都与之相应地发生变化。这些变化虽是出于对自身利益的维护,但在一定程度上也对中国社会发展产生了重要的影响。

In the local autonomy of the New Deal period in the late Qing Dynasty,the gentry class was an important force.Their active participation strongly promoted the development of local autonomy movement.Due to the dramatic changes of the social situation in the late Qing Dynasty,the gentry class tried to seek new social interests so that their power and role in the local autonomy movement changed accordingly.Although these changes were for the protection of their own interests,to some extent,they also had an important impact on China's social development.
