Middle East under the American Hegemony After the Sept. 11 Incident

在过去的十年 ,美国主导下的“稳定与和平”可以说是中东地区形势的主要特征。一方面 ,在中东几乎所有的重大问题上 ,美国的态度与立场至关重要 ;另一方面 ,美国的力量与影响也不是万能的 ,国际与地区盟友的支持、大国的协调与谅解依然是美国中东政策获得成功的重要条件。然而 ,9·1 1事件、阿富汗战争对中东地区形成了巨大冲击 ,尤其是各国围绕国际反恐战争所展开的政策调整更是对中东地区格局产生了难以估量的影响。当前 ,我们隐约看到 ,一个美国主导下的中东正在迅速转变为美国霸权下的中东。

In the past decade, the main characteristic of the situations in the Middle East can be said as 'stability and peace' dominated by America. On the one hand, America's attitude and stance are of critical importance to almost all the major issues in the area; on the other hand, America's power and influence are not omnipotent: International and regional allies' supports, coordination and understanding among big powers remain the main conditions to the success of America's Middle East policies. However, the Sept.11 incident, the Afghanistan War, and especially the adjustment of policies by countries around the international war on terrorism had tremendous impact on situations of the Middle East. Today, one year after the Sept. 11, the Middle East dominated by the U.S. seems to turn rapidly into the Middle East under the U.S. hegemony.
